Review of the 6th, 7th and 8th Edition of the Clinical Certification in Orthodontics

And another cycle of training in Orthodontics has come to an end! A total of 3 classes (46 students) successfully completed their Clinical Certification in Orthodontics at IPAS.

We leave our deepest gratitude to these 46 students who have chosen our Institute as a pillar for their professional growth.

As far as the structure of the course is concerned, it was divided into 30 months of intensive training divided between:

Theoretical Classes: dedicated to learning orthodontic concepts from A to Z as well as performing the correct diagnosis and planning of orthodontic mechanics, which the students implemented in patients (in clinical practice);

Theoretical and practical classes: where students could train and perfect techniques such as bonding brackets, arch sequence, mechanics of space closure, among others, on typodont models;

Clinical Practice Classes: attendance of real patients (starting from the 6th module), in the various phases of orthodontic treatment. In total, more than 150 patients were received.

This strong bet of IPAS, in offering an intensive clinical component, has been the great differentiating factor of this Clinical Certification, which is already a reference in national Orthodontics.

For those who have not had the opportunity to join us in the Clinical Certification in Orthodontics, we inform you that we have already opened the registrations for the next edition (starting in November 2023), which will also have new program contents, including the theoretical and practical approach of Invisible Aligners (Spark®)!

Balance 11th Edition of the Implantology Course

Another edition (11th) of the Clinical Residency in Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation has ended, thus exceeding the 110 students certified in this area by our Institute!

Being a clinical residency known for its strong practical component, this edition was no exception, with students beginning intensive practice on patients as early as the 2nd module.

Balance 11th Edition of the Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation Course

As in previous editions, the training programme covered:

  • Theoretical Classes: where the teachers transmitted guidelines of what is best in the field of Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation;
  • Theoretical-practical classes (hands-on): dedicated to the training of clinical procedures such as the practice of incisions, detachments, sutures, placement of implants in animal models, as well as the reverse planning of the cases they will attend in clinical practice. In this aspect the students also had the opportunity to get to know the implants and biomaterials that they later used in the care of real patients;
  • Practical classes (clinical environment): where students put their knowledge into practice, through the care of real patients, under the close guidance of the course teachers.

We would like to thank all the students who choose us to raise their knowledge to a higher level, in this which is one of the most challenging and sought after areas of Dentistry, as well as our partners (Klockner and Artem Dental Studio), who have allowed us to place and rehabilitate more than 120 implants, thus highlighting the strong clinical practice aspect as the great differentiating factor of this course.

In terms of the structure of the course, it was divided between:

  • Theoretical classes: Where students learned theory about the different techniques of Orofacial Harmonization: Botulinum Toxin, Hyaluronic Acid, Polydioxanone Threads (PDO), Intradermoterapia (Skinbooster) and Enzymatic Lipolysis of Jowls (submentonian fat);
  • Pre-clinical practice (hands-on): Training and improvement of techniques for the application of the various clinical procedures took place;
  • Intensive clinical practice: The long-awaited moment, where students could apply the various aesthetic treatments learned in real patients, with the help of teachers Dr. Carla Young, Dr. Daniela Claudino and Dr. Ana Ferreira. In total around 43 patients were seen, surpassing the number of patients received in previous editions!

In this edition, the students highlighted the experience and follow-up of the teachers as strengths of the course, as well as the strong aspect of clinical practice, which gave them the scientific and technical bases necessary to treat their patients, knowing how to advise the best procedure and material to use in each clinical case.

Review of the 9th Edition of the Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation Course - 169 Implants

There are only 2 modules left for the 9th Edition of the Clinical Residency in Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation to finish and the feedback from the students couldn't be better!

Taking a brief stock of the course to date, we find that:

• Theoretical componentIt is based on current scientific evidence and the teachers are concerned with transmitting international guidelines on what is best in the area of Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation;

• The Theoretical and Practical component (Hands-On): in the animal model, allows training in the techniques of the various clinical procedures, such as the practice of incisions, detachments, sutures, implant placement and guided bone regeneration. Additionally, in this aspect they have had the opportunity to get to know the implants and biomaterials used in the clinical component;

• The Clinical Practice in Patients component: has been intensive, with students having the opportunity to place a total of 169 implants! In addition, and in order for the treatments to be a success, students have the close support of teachers who allow them to increase the learning curve.

The feedback from the Scientific and Pedagogical Coordinators has been equally positive!

In the words of Prof. Hélder Oliveira: "The Clinical Residency in Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation is based primarily on the most current scientific evidence with a strong clinical component." And the Prof. Paulo Ribeiro he further adds that: "This course at a national level is very sought after due to the fact that it is already a reference. Additionally, we approach from A-Z everything that there is at the level of implantology, that is, both the surgical part and the prosthetic part, always taking into account the most recent themes of implantology from the conventional part to the digital part. Through this course, we intend that the students leave it and are able to put all the acquired knowledge into practice".

This will be followed by the Oral Rehabilitation modules where students will have the opportunity to shape the implants already placed in a conventional and digital way using intraoral scanners. All the implants placed will be rehabilitated during the course.

Don't miss the last chance to join the more than 80 certified students in the field of Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation!
